Plans for Summer | sewing + blogging

Friday, June 28, 2019
Summer has now (officially) begun and I want to make the best of it. Last summer I noticed that when I wrote my plans down for the season I got much more done since I had a written plan and goal of how I would be spending my summer, and therefore I have decided to do the same thing this year.

My overall plan this summer is to use it to its full potential and not let it go to waste which is, unfortunately, a common thing in my life. It is pretty easy to waste one's day online doing nothing, afterward feeling regret and yet the next day doing the same thing.
I have an idea of what I want to do these next two months and by putting pen to paper (or keyboard to document) I know that there is a higher chance I'll do it.

Plans for Summer 2019

If you have followed me since the beginning of this blog or even since spring 2k18 you might remember that last summer besides doing my weekly blog post I would also do a weekly summary/update of my summer vacation. I called it Summer Holidays 2018 (very original, I know), and I would write about the places I've traveled to, where I shopped and overall a glimpse into my everyday life. Like a diary in a way, it's a great way of looking back and seeing what happened in my life that week. I'm planning on doing that this year also, among other things.

I hope to sew an item per week, which would come out to 8-10 sewn garments.

  • 1 Russian Pattern
  • 1 Vintage (pre-90s) pattern
  • 2 dresses, pants, 2 tops, 1 bag/purse
  • 1 home item/gift
  • and an item per family member
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that I have family from abroad visiting us right now. meaning that I have less space and time than I did last year, but that won't deter me from my plans. Having family here is great but at the same time, it's hard because I don't know them that well and there has been some clashing between members.

Anywho,  I'll also try to fulfill some of the things from my 'Sewing Resolutions for 2019' post.

As you have noticed I haven't been blogging as often because of the family that is visiting us among other things.
Blogging has been a great outlet for me when I feel depressed or down and overall just a hobby, but lately, I've felt that blogging has become more of a chore and the passion I had for it has slowly waned. My plan for this summer is to get back on track on blogging and to try to capture the passion I had for Plaid and Sugar when I first began.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, I plan on doing a weekly review of my life just for the fun of it. It really helps me relax and I enjoy it.

Hopefully, I'll also be doing more product reviews. I love sharing my thoughts on products that made my life easier or that I just loved. I will also try to fulfill all the plans I had at the beginning of the year.

With family visiting us right now, we are planning to go to iconic cities with them and to visit some wonderful tourist destinations. As of now, we've been to the Old Port and St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal and we hope to go to every tourist destination in this city!
*I posted this picture of the Old Montreal/Port on Instagram a couple of weeks ago. It's a small, 300-year-old street that is semi-hidden and it's perfect for pics!

For the last couple of months, I've been thinking of redecorating my room since I find that a lot of space is being wasted that could be used for storage or making my room look better. This summer I hope to paint my walls and to DIY some shelves and a desk because for the last month I've been working in my room on either the floor or my bed.

So those are my (always tentative) plans for this summer. do I think that I'll do everything on the list? No, but even doing half of that would be a great accomplishment.

What are your plans for this summer? Will you travel, visit family, work or just stay home?

Til next time,
Loren Camila

  1. Hope you have a great summer!

  2. Hope you are able to fulfill all your plans this summer!
