Easy Bread Pudding | Quick + Simple

Happy Spring and happy April!

Today I will be sharing with you one of my favorite recipes: Bread Pudding. It is super easy and quick to make and I mainly love it because it is the perfect recipe for when you have more bread than you can eat or if you have a sugar craving! This bread pudding recipe is also a great addition to your brunches as they are not too sweet and somewhat healthy (lol!)

I know that I've been a bit MIA these last couple of months but to be honest, I've been feeling off. It's been a year since the pandemic started and it has certainly taken a toll, especially concerning school. But with spring here hopefully I'll get more writing done for the blog since the season makes me happy, relaxed, and alive!

So keep an eye out for new  DIY and pattern review posts within the next few weeks. In the meantime please enjoy this recipe post!

Deliciously Easy Bread Pudding Recipe

I've made this recipe multiple times and I never tire of it! It is super simple to make and as I mentioned perfectly for when there's bread on the verge of going stale.  One of the things I love is that I can with the toppings of the pudding depending on what I have in hand. I've tried chocolate chips and craisins (dried cranberries which I absolutely love) and they take the pudding to the next level!

This bread pudding serves 8-10 and can be made in around 55 minutes, which is great if you realize you have guests coming over and have less than an hour to prepare or if you want something sweet.

With Easter coming up this bread pudding is a perfect addition to your holiday brunch!

  • 6 cups cubed bread (I mainly use sliced bread)
  • 2 cups milk
    • Sometimes I'll do one cup of milk and one cup of whipping cream
  • 3 eggs, well beaten
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
optional: 1/4 cup of chocolate chips, craisins, or candy for the topping.

1. Heat oven to 350℉  (175℃) and grease an 8x8 (or 2 quarts) casserole/baking dish.

2. Cut bread into 1-inch cubes/pieces and place them in the casserole.
  • In this step, you can add the craisins or chocolate chips and mix them together in the casserole if you wish.

3. In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, and sugar. Then add the melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

4. Once everything is mixed slowly pour it over the bread in the baking dish, making sure that every piece of bread is soaked with the milk mixture. It is important to go slowly because if the bread is not covered it will essentially toast in the oven and taste like nothing.

5. If you didn't mix the chocolate chips (or craisins) with the bread, you can now sprinkle them over the bread.

6.Afterward, place the dish or casserole in the oven for 45-55 minutes until the top is browned/toasted or the middle of the pudding is set but not solid, should be a tad jiggly.

Take it out of the oven and you are done!

As mentioned this is one of my favorite recipes to make as it is sweet enough to satisfy sugar cravings but not too sweet that you can't eat it for breakfast. It has eggs, milk, and bread, so it's practically healthy!

I hope you enjoyed this recipe and if you have any recipe suggestions please let me know, either in the comments below or by tagging me on Instagram or Twitter at @thecamiway.

Do you bake when you have sugar cravings? Have you ever made bread puddings before?

Til next week and happy Easter!
